Hate Crimes

A person commits a Hate Crime when he or she commits a criminal act that involves violence, intimidation, or destruction of property AND (a) intentionally selects the person against whom the offense is committed or intended to be committed in whole or in substantial part because of a belief or perception regarding the race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, gender identity or expression, religion, religious practice, age, disability or sexual orientation of a person, regardless of whether the belief or perception is correct, or (b) intentionally commits the act or acts constituting the offense in whole or in substantial part because of a belief or perception regarding the race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, gender identity or expression, religion, religious practice, age, disability or sexual orientation of a person, regardless of whether the belief or perception is correct. 

Tompkins Cortland Community College takes a strong stand against hate in all forms. Reports of hate crimes will be investigated to the fullest and those found responsible for committing hate crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

HOW TO REPORT HATE CRIMES 

The Campus Police Office is open 24/7/365 and is located in Room 118 in the Tompkins Cortland Community College main building. You can report hate crimes to the Campus Police at any hour of the day or night by calling 607.844.6511, or 911 for crimes in progress.

Hate Crime Statistics
