Alumni Profile: Alice Jane and Phil Munson - Members of TC3's First Class

When TC3 first opened its door in the former Groton High School building back in September of 1968, the College's total enrollment numbered 180 students and included Alice Jane and Phil Munson. Like all of those students, their lives would change with the opening of the new college - but their story is a little different from most.

“We were in the charter class at TC3 in 1968. Phil fell in love with me when he saw me walk through the door," said Alice Jane recently while the pair enjoyed a summer day at Ithaca's Stewart Park where Phil operates the carousel.

The two fell in love at TC3, but their lives took different paths after that first year. Phil graduated and went to work on the family farm while Alice moved out of state to continue her education. Each went on with their separate lives, but the two reunited years later in North Carolina. Alice says the spark from the TC3 days was still there, and they have now been married for 28 years "We're more in love than the day we met and it just keeps getting better and better!"
