Bus Pass Options

Both Tompkins County Area Transportation Authority (TCAT) and Cortland Transit service the Tompkins Cortland Community College campus. Each Bus service offers discounts to students on semester long bus passes. The discounted passes are semester long and for students only. The semester passes run from the Monday before classes start through the Monday after finals weeks.

TCAT

The TCAT bus schedule has service for Tompkins Cortland students until late evening weeknights, and service directly to the residence halls on the weekends.

The traditional TCAT monthly passes are available through the TC3 Card office, costing $25 per month for students and $45 per month for faculty, staff, and community members. Please note this pass is NOT activated through your TC3 Card and is a SEPARATE card for use on the buses, and is not part of the subsidized pass program.

TCAT passes are sold in the TC3 Card Office or on-line. You may pay with Panther Dollars, cash, check, credit card, or financial aid. Students must pay in advance and there are no refunds given on bus pass purchases.

Cortland Transit

Cortland Transit also services the Tompkins Cortland Community College campus. Semester passes are available through the TC3 Card Office. The student cost is $120 for the Fall or Spring semester. Cortland transit passes are not activated through your TC3 card and you must visit the Card Office to obtain your pass for Cortland Transit. No single or multiple ride passes are available for Cortland Transit through the Card Office.

Cortland Transit passes are sold in the TC3 Card Office only. You may pay with Panther Dollars, cash, check, credit card, or financial aid. Students must pay in advance and there are no refunds given on bus purchases.

To Purchase a Bus Pass

Financial aid may be used to purchase a bus pass. This is possible with a completed financial aid application and a credit balance on the account. Visit the Panther Welcome Center to complete a short bus pass application. Students may receive the bus pass the same day.

Access your account to purchase the TCAT semester pass. Deposit the money to your Panther Dollars account and then click on purchase service to buy a pass.

It can take up to three days for the pass to activate, so students will have to pay regular fare to board the bus until the card is active.

How to add funds to your TC3 Card

You can stop in to any of the TC3 Card offices during normal business hours or make a deposit online.

Parents, guardians, or other authorized users can make a credit card deposit. Deposits made here can only be used for on-campus purchases. You can also check your account balance here. We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover Card.

Meal Plan Accounts

Although you use the TC3 Card to access your meal plan, the funds are not deposited through the TC3 Card office. At the start of each semester, your meal plan account and associated flexible dollar balance is loaded on your card. Enrollment Services (room 101) manages the meal plan account, so please visit that office to add a plan or to make any changes to your plan during the first two weeks of classes. Plans cannot be changed after the second week of the semester.

Tip: Running out of flex dollars on your meal plan? You can deposit money in Dining Dollars or Panther Dollars to make purchases at the TC3 Eatery and Fireside Café beyond what you are provided with a normal meal option.

Where do I go to get a TC3 card?

Resident Students pick up ID cards at the time of move-in. Commuter students will have their ID mailed to their address.

What if my card is lost or stolen?

Come to the TC3 card office and we will issue you a new card. There will be a $15 replacement fee payable at time of replacement. Your lost/stolen card will be invalid.

What if my card is bent, broken or demagnetized?

Come to the TC3 card offices and we will issue you a new card free of charge. You MUST bring in your bent, broken or demagnetized card or we will consider it a lost or stolen card and you will be charged accordingly.

Can I have more than one TC3 card?

No. For many security reasons, we cannot allow you to have more than one card. Someone (possibly not associated with the college) could use your TC3 to use the different services on campus and your funds unlawfully.

What are the privileges that come along with myTC3 card?

The TC3 card is a convenient debit and access identification card. You can use your TC3 card multiple times each day for your food purchases (meal plans or declining balances), ResHall access classroom access, checking out books in the library, using the fitness center, the campus pantry and campus closet.

Why doesn't my card work?

It could be because your card is bent, the magnetic strip is scratched or damaged, the magnetic strip has been demagnetized or because you are trying to use an old card. All the information needed for your card to work on campus is stored on the mag-strip. If your card is damaged in any way, it is impossible to extract any information from your card. For this reason it is important to care for your card by keeping it in a card holder and keeping cards from touching each other back to back.

Does my Financial Aid money go on my card?

No. Your FinAid award does not get put on your card. You have to have your TC3 card to purchase books in the bookstore this is so they can look up your records and, basically, charge your books again any Financial Aid award you received.

May I take cash out or get a refund?

You may not take cash out of any balances associated with your TC3 card. Only Panther Dollars will be refunded (less a $25 processing fee) upon written request. Panther dollars will remain on the card and can be used until they expire. All accounts and Panther Dollars are considered expired after 180 days of inactivity and will be cleared. Money deposited for dining will not be refunded.
