LSAMP

The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) program that strives to build the next generation of STEM discoverers. 

LSAMP is an alliance-based program, where a group of colleges work together to diversify the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM degrees awarded to persons from LSAMP populations who are underrepresented in STEM careers.  

The LSAMP program strives to produce well-prepared, highly competitive students from these populations who pursue graduate studies or careers in STEM.

TC3 is part of the Central NY LSAMP Alliance which includes:

  • SUNY Cortland
  • SUNY ESF (Environmental Science & Forestry)
  • Ithaca College
  • Hobart and William Smith Colleges
  • Utica University

Eligible LSAMP Populations

  • Black/African-Americans
  • Hispanic/Latino Americans 
  • Native Americans/Alaska Natives 
  • Native Hawaiians
  • Pacific Islanders

  • Applied Science & Technology A.A.S.
  • Biology A.S.
  • Biotechnology Certificate
  • Computer Information Systems A.A.S.
  • Computer Science A.S. – Sequence A (General)
  • Computer Science A.S. – Sequence B (Engineering)
  • Computer Support Specialist A.A.S.
  • Construction & Environmental Technology A.A.S.
  • Construction & Environmental Technology Certificate
  • Engineering Science A.S.
  • Environmental Studies A.S.
  • Liberal Arts & Sciences – Math/Science A.S.
  • Liberal Arts & Sciences – General Studies A.S. (undecided w/STEM interest or related transfer path)
  • Sustainable Farming & Food Systems, A.A.S.

Requirements to Apply 

  • Undergraduate first-year student or new transfer student
  • Underrepresented minority as described by the LSAMP program description above
  • A U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Enrolled in a STEM degree/major (see list above)
  • High School GPA of a 70 or higher

Requirements of the Program 

  • Arrive in August for a pre-semester program
  • Participate in all program-based meetings, workshops, activities and certifications
