Academic Recovery

The Academic Recovery Process is for students who are below the College’s Academic Standards. The purpose is to inform and advise them on their path to returning to good academic standing.

An Academic Recovery Plan is a list of tasks in Starfish which some students must complete to maximize their preparation for the upcoming semester.

If you are on an Academic Recovery Plan, please review the following checklist and procedures.

Academic Recovery Checklist

Review expectations and campus resources:

  • Purchase all textbooks and required materials before the semester begins, if applicable.
  • Attend all class meetings for every course in which you are enrolled, arrive on time, and stay for the full class.
  • Check your TC3 email at least 3 times per week, if not every day.
  • Meet with your academic advisor in the first two weeks of the semester and follow up as needed.
  • Check your early progress indicators. Available week six of the semester.
  • Communicate with your instructors any time you miss class for an illness/emergency.
  • Communicate with your instructors any time you are concerned about your progress.
  • Use the campus resources listed in your Success Plan (Found in Starfish) to support your success.
  • Do not adjust your schedule without speaking to your academic advisor or a Student Success Advisor.
  • Participate in the Mentor Advising Connection (MAC) program: an initiative that links you with an academic success coach/tutor from the Baker Center for Learning.

Procedures for Students on Probation or Repeat Probation

You must complete these steps no later than August 25 or you will not be able to enroll in Fall classes. If you are already registered, your classes will be dropped.

The following requirements must be completed:

  • Clear all holds that prevent registration.
  • Complete the Academic Recovery Plan
  • You must be registered for Fall courses.

Complete your Academic Recovery Plan

  1. Log in to Starfish.
  2. Choose the menu icon in the upper left corner and select Plans.
  3. Complete the items listed in your Academic Recovery Plan.
  4. You must complete these two steps in Starfish:
    • Academic Recovery Survey
    • Academic Recovery Appointment
  5. Meet virtually or in person with a Student Success Advisor to complete the process.

Your Academic Recovery Plan will help you understand academic policies and strategies to improve your performance.

Make sure to complete all items in the plan and understand the information. If you have questions, ask.

Failure to complete this process will affect your ability to drop, add, or withdraw from Fall courses and may impact registration for future semesters.

If you’re not registered for Fall courses, schedule an appointment with a Student Success Advisor ASAP.

  • Your schedule will be reviewed and may be adjusted based on your Spring grades.
