College Introduces New Logo

June 13, 2016

Tompkins Cortland Community College has introduced a new college logo. The new logo was unveiled to the College community during the spring semester and will now be the external representation of the College name, including in publications and electronic communications.

The new logo was created by Jennica Petrella-Baum, the College’s graphic designer, after it was determined the College needed a new look. Director of Communications Bryan Chambala said after using the three-color, three-font “TC3” logo since 1996, it was time for a change. “The new logo reflects the evolution of the College during the past decade,” said Chambala. “The campus has expanded and been modernized. The College has developed new, modern extension centers in Cortland and Ithaca, and it has been at the forefront of innovation with the development of a campus organic farm and Culinary Center in Ithaca.”

The logo change is part of a larger rebranding effort that has included input from every segment of the College community. “The new logo is the product of extensive market research and work by our communications team,” said Chambala. “We talked to prospective students, community members, current students, alums, and various other groups to learn about their perceptions of the College. We used their feedback to guide our creative process: They view Tompkins Cortland Community College as a high-quality academic institution with a tight-knit community that provides students the academic and personal support they need to meet our high standards. We feel our new logo is a positive reflection of these views, and we are truly excited to introduce it to the community.”
