The Diversity Equity Action Council Programming Subcommittee is coordinating an on-campus Read-A-Thon, co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity Education and Support Services and Student Activities. This will be a community- and literacy-building team event exploring the power of words, with read-alouds, spoken word, free writes, games, storyboarding, a book exchange, and more, all while raising funds for books for the 2018-19 College Read, Mia McKenzie's Black Girl Dangerous.

The Read-A-Thon is an eight-hour event, from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, February 24 in the Student Center. Students, faculty, and staff can form "teams" that will be sponsored to participate in the Read-A-Thon. Teams must register online. Teams can be comprised of classes, ResLife buildings/floors, student workers, student clubs, sports teams, or just friends. There will be no minimum sponsorship needed to participate, but the teams that raise the most money will win fun prizes.
